Make haste while the sun shines…2024

Whilst journeying we have certain traditions, mainly involving food. There are always lots of snacks packed in a basket and flasks of tea and coffee, now we swap between our Stanley flask of tea and our Stelton for coffee, made in the Moccamaster with natural, lightly roasted beans before leaving the house. We use Moomin insulated cups for coffee and melamine cups for tea and beer on arrival. When asked “Everybody happy?”, the expected reply is, “Bet your life we are!” The other habit is of delayed gratification. At the end of one year and soon into the next I think delayed gratification is a must for the consumer and crafter. I am keen to finish my current projects before being enticed by a new knitting pattern and yarn. On my needles I have a cable balaclava and a sweater knitted from the top down with two strands of colour and an Aran patterned sweater knitting in Hjelholts’ chocolate yarn. I am reading Babette’s Feast by Isak Dinesen and A Rose for Winter, by Laurie Lee, about his return to Andalusia. A new year always inspires me to plan on where I shall travel to but each year now, Denmark is a must.
