Vintage RAADVAD Bread Slicer

Around 1890 the Danish factory at Raadvad began to produce the first bread slicer made from cast iron, with a blade made from the new rust free stainless steel. The bread slicer became a classic quickly finding its way into most homes in Denmark.

The 294 model for a short loaf of rye bread dates from the 1950s and is still in excellent working condition. Originally designed to expertly cut thin slices through the dense Danish rye bread, its sharp guillotine also cuts through most other breads - the denser the better! A beautiful and practical piece of vintage industrial design and a great conversation piece in any kitchen! Can be used to store cookery books when not in use
